senseless acts of violence

On Tuesday night Craig was attacked while walking to his car after a late business meeting. He had just hung up his cell phone after calling home and a young guy came out of no where and punched him in the eye. He dropped his phone and the guy took it and proceeded to demand everything he had. Craig refused and the guy must have been scared so he ran off (luckily). Never walk alone while talking on your cell phone, even when in a well lit area. Craig has a black eye and swollen cheek and it will take awhile to heal. It could have been a lot worse. The worst part was when he had to tell the kids what happened and tears just came streaming down their cheeks. We hate to think we live in a world where things like this happen, but you just have to be aware and not take unnecessary risks.
Be safe.

I'm so sorry! I hope you feel better soon. That is just so terrible. We have been there too, down that road, with the "pizza bandits". This is why we worry! You can't help it! You're right, you just have to be smart and careful. On the defensive sometimes in iffy situations. Take Care Bethany, it will all work out one way or another for both of us. XOXO

Oh that is just awful! I am so glad that the guy fled...

I cannot believe that these things can happen so easily in our "safe area".

I'll be thinking of all of you as you heal from this experience.

Hi Beth, I am sorry to hear this! I hope that Craig is ok......and the kids and you.
My brother was attacked whilst walking home one day late last year by 3 guys who chased him down a busy street and when the caught up with him 2 of them started hitting him (in a busy street!!) Luckily they were scared off by people quite quickly but he still had a cracked cheekbone! The police managed to catch 2 of them later and from what he thinks it was a definite case of mistaken identity because one of them had just been in a fight with someone else and his friends thought that my brother was that guy. My brother, 5 foot 7 inches tall, weighing only 120 pounds and all this at 130pm!!

I know exactly how you feel, angry, upset and worried about the way society is going!! I guess what we need to remember is luckily for us it remains the minority!

Please tell Craig I was asking for him!

Bethany,
I hate to hear that this happened to Craig. You are right that it could have been worse. Nothing he has is worth his life, and he's lucky that this was the kids first time, a more experienced criminal may have done the unthinkable. Please tell Craig that if he's in this situation again let them have what ever it is, he is the irreplaceable item in the situation. My husband is in law inforcement, trust me it could have been much worse.
The worst part of this crime, it effects his security and comfort.
I will pray for him and your famiy. I also pray that the idiot would be criminal will get his head out of his buyy, get a job like the rest of us do, and most of all get GOD in his obviously moral lacking life. Oh yeh, and I hope he gets caught and serves a little time!
God is afterall in favor of not sparing the rod!

Thank God he's okay... I always thought you were safer talking on the phone while you were alone so that if something happened to you, the person on the other end could get help for you!

Hugs to you and your family.
